I've done this color combo before and I guarantee that you will probably see me do it again. I love this cargo vest that I picked up at, of all places, Gordmans! On the clearance rack! With an extra 33% off of that price. This was a FIND! I have worn the vest several times and really like it. It's lightweight, so wearing it to the office for summer works well for the COLD office temps and then I can always take it off at the end of the day when I'm running errands. Also, great over a sweater in the winter. It has a drawstring that cinches at the waist to help give you some shape so it doesn't look like you're wearing a big square.

Also, tried curling my hair...it looks decent here (although you can't see it super well in this pic)...but as it is in Kansas...Humidity was it's enemy and it looked terrible later :( I am waiting for a non humid day (good luck to me) so that I can try again. Otherwise, I might have to just come to terms with the fact that I can only curl my hair in the winter!

Again, just another PSA...I am posting these to pinterest so like or pin them (of course only if you actually LIKE them) and then I am working on seeing if I can post to instagram and if so...might create a new instagram account for just my blog and then I can even post little one off's that I find in stores that I just like...without having to do a WHOLE blog on a cute purse I saw at target on clearance for 11 dollars :) SO...just things to come!

The reason this blog is titled "Presenting...Polka Dots" is because I do feel like this outfit was a true coming out party for this jacket. I have had this for probably 2 years and this is the FIRST time I have worn it. I think I saw it, liked it, and knew it deserved a place in my closet...but then it just never looked quite right to me when I would put it on. FINALLY...I realized, I think this thing needs to be tailored and I took it right down to my fav tailor and Voila! Here she is in all her glory :) She is very happy to meet you! Basically, I love this little jacket...Now, I say jacket, it's like a lightweight silk type material, so its great for summer at the office. I think the unique color combo is what originally made me want to pick it up. The peach and navy makes it a little unique and it helps that I am, for some unknown reason, obsessed with navy right now. Anyway, paired with with some jewelry pieces that I love to bring this all home. The navy bubble necklace was really a smart purchase and I have gotten some great use out of it.  You'll see some of this in future posts :) The neutrals of the gold watch and bracelet and earrings and nude flats round out the look. Since there is so much going on with the jacket and the necklace, no need to get crazy with the shoes and other jewelry. 

Here's to hoping this Memorial Day weekend has better weather and I can follow through on my original plan of having my bathing suits be my wardrobe this weekend :)

Making a Statement

I woke up this morning and it was decided that I was wearing this necklace. I bought it and have been holding onto it, but it was time for it to makes it's debut. Mainly, I have been planning on wearing it with this specific outfit....then it got SUPER hot and there was no way I would have survived in that heat with this long sleeve shirt on. THEN...as Kansas usually is...it got super cold again and I usually hate cold BUT since I was wanting to wear this outfit I was actually happy about the usually annoying cold snap!
The outfit itself is pretty basic but the necklace definitely jazzes it up! This necklace is like shoes, sometimes you decide you want to wear an accessory and then you build the outfit around that. I am loving the chambray shirts this year. This one is from J Crew and I love love love it but I also have a polka dot one from Old Navy that is super cute too!
The jeans I have raved about before. I seriously can't say enough good things about these Gap Jeans. Kudos to Gap and they definitely have a permanent customer in me with these Jeans!
The necklace is from Fracescas...I frequently go in there for ONE necklace and come out with three. I have to be careful about that...they are just all so cute!!!
I needed the heels for this outfit, I think since it's so basic plain old flats weren't going to cut it. So, in come the suede Banana Republic shoes, gifted from my Mom (thanks, Doreen)! They are really comfortable, I used to wear heels much more often but flats are so cute these days that when an outfit calls for heels, I sometimes dread it. These heels, I can't complain, they are more comfortable than you would think...and SUPER cute (Mad Men series...love the show, and love the shoes) ha!
Speaking of there being so many cute flats. I saw these on Polyvore and I'm pretty much in LOVE. I DO NOT currently own these. But, I'm in the market....not like me to spend quite that much on flats so I'm going to shop around a little, but I'm thinking these are a must have! I love a good pair of jessica simpson shoes!
The bracelet is yet another piece that is part of my premier jewelry collection! This is a classic and one that is definitely a frequent flier in my wardrobe. This particular piece might no longer be in the catalog...but they definitely have similar options...link to a current catalog and my premier rep!

Peaches and Jeans

Hey...Just a quick post today. I first want to comment on this amazing color! Spring/Summer is here so it's time to bust out the bright colors and I love this one! It's perfect with and army/olive green jacket and a pair of jeans. BUT not just any jeans. Gap....Always Skinny...Petite. They are the PERFECT pair of jeans. I love when you find that perfect go-to pair of jeans. They are perfect with flats or heels. Basically...love them.
This necklace was a great find at Francesca's! It was a sabbatical shopping purchase when my sister was in town. Who can resist a snake skin print necklace...??
OK...running out the door to get my nails done :)

Camo Jeans are a "DO!" - Let me show you how!

Today I present to you...OPTIONS! I seriously am in LOVE with my camo jeans. I had been searching for the right pair. I found 2. That's right, I have more than one pair. The pair I am wearing in the picture and in the first three options are from Gap. I got them on super sale (what? nobody wanted these?? their loss!). I'm not sure everyone would pick up a pair of these. It's possible you would look at them and want to pick them up, but think to yourself : What in the world would I wear with them? Well, let me be the one to show you....and not just one option, but 4! That's right folks, it's a collection!  Also...told you that you would see the jean jacket again. I JUST realized it didn't include all the links when I posted the collection showing where I got everything. If you click on the link all the way at the bottom of the post and go to polyvore it should have it all listed out. They are published individually as sets there too and I know that will list it out. There is one more option I forgot to include so I'll add that as a bonus look to my next post! Hope this inspires you!

Option Number 1 : Pop of Pink
When you think of camo...don't you think of pink! They make pink camo, but I prefer to take the pink of of the print and just add it as a solid pop of color. I always have  jewelry, so don't be shocked at the statement necklace. I picked out a couple, but the one on the right is the one I actually own from Premier. Option 2: Casual Camo:
If I'm running errands on a Saturday, I still like to look cute. This shirt I picked up at the Nike Outlet and I absolutely love it. I have been searching for a running shirt with a great quote on it, and this one is again about the pink and camo. Similar to above but just stepped down a little and I toned it down on the jewelry. The earrings are from Premier ( catalog at http://erinmesserly.mypremierdesigns.com/catalog/Erin/1). The earring come in a pair:one gold and one silver. These are my 'go to' earrings, I wear these all the time if I have a big statement necklace and want to put on earring but not have them be overwhelming to the necklace.

Option 3: Rockin' the Camo...to dinner? drinks?
I have not actually worn this outfit but have seen it on pinterest and loved it. I have not been successful at finding a t-shirt like this that doesn't say something super cheesy. But I would live this look for going out to dinner or drinks with friends and you could always pair it with heels to dress it up. The watch is just like the gold one I have in previous posts, but this one is silver. The earrings and the cuff bracelet are from Premier (see link to catalog above).


Option 4: Accessorizing My Hudson Camo:
THIS folks, was the first pair of camo jeans I found. I was in Wichita at Pink Saloon and had just been telling my sister that I wanted a pair of camo jeans. It was like the fashion gods heard me and answered my fashion hopes! There, on the sale rack were a pair of camo jeans...IN MY SIZE. Don't you love when that happens. I'm convinced it was meant to be. This is the first pair of true designer jeans that I have ever owned and they were worth every penny. They are super soft and look amazing with these suede heels. You can accessorize with gold or silver...so many options I couldn't pick just one! Most of this is premier, minus the watches and one of the necklaces. So see the catalog link above!

Light Wash Denim Jacket - My new obsession


This light wash (dare I say "stone wash") denim jacket is nothing short of a new obsession! I love it and I got it at Gap Outlet on sale!! woo hoo! I saw a similar outfit on pinterest so I threw this little outfit together for a Friday at the office. The leggings I have are from LOFT and they are the most amazing leggings. They are a heavier pair and I highly recommend picking yourself up a couple of pairs. The Kate Spade sunglasses = LOVE :) These are the pair I actually own and I got them with my sister at Nordstrom (if you know my sister, you know she doesn't come to KC without a visit to Nordstrom) before our trip to Belize. They were the perfect accessory for the trip. I love them. I found a pic of the actual flats I own, but I got those from my mom from banana republic a LONG time ago so I included another pair I found that are equally as cute.

The jewelry: Here's the deal...I have been wanting a new gold watch for awhile. I even went to Nordstrom (same day I bought the sunglasses) looking for a nice watch with my sister. I didn't find anything in all the fancy watches that were really what I wanted. So, what's a girl to do when she can't find a watch at Nordstrom? Go to Target and look in the clearance section. That's right folks....got this amazing watch for 13 bucks. I love it. Way better than the super fancy ones...so the moral of the story...when in doubt, go to Target. :)
